Reiko FAQ

Reiki energy healing is based on the belief that vital energy flows through the body. The Reiki practitioner uses gentle touch or hovers their hands just above the body to guide the energy into the person receiving Reiki to promote balance and healing.  Reiki can be beneficial for pain reduction, promoting relaxation, and reducing stress.

Adding Reiki on to your chiropractic treatment is as simple as asking Dr. Kohn for Reiki. When asked, Dr. Kohn will focus and direct the reiki energy into and around your body. While you are receiving Reiki, you may not feel anything, or you may feel a sensation of heat, tingling, or pulsing throughout your body or under the practitioner’s hands. Giving and receiving Reiki energy is often a quiet process with minimal talking, however if you have questions, please ask!

Anyone who trains with a Reiki Master and receives an attunement can channel Reiki Energy. It takes several training sessions and attunements to achieve Reiki Master status.  There is no national certification and no state licensing requirements for Reiki Practitioners.

Reiki has been linked to a range of physical and emotional health benefits: improved sleep, better mood, and reduced pain. Research suggests  that Reiki helps the body return to a state of relaxation, which allows it to potentially better heal from damage caused by stress, injury, or disease.

Some research has found that hands on Reiki was better than placebo (“fake” treatment) at lowering resting heart rate and blood pressure. Research also suggests Reiki is more effective than placebo at easing anxiety, pain, and depression. It is also effective for boosting quality of life and self-esteem in people with long term health conditions.

There are no known negative side effects of Reiki Energy Healing Therapy and is generally very safe.

You’re likely to feel more relaxed and/or less stressed after a Reiki treatment. Many patients report a greater sense of mental clarity and less ‘brain fog’ after Reiki as well. If you are using Reiki to help with a particular health condition, you should continue to follow your regular treatment/medications and continue to see the doctor who manages your condition as usual. Reiki is not meant to replace traditional medical care.
