We can help you navigate your claim and refer you to our network of lawyers and providers as needed. THE HEALING PROCESS:

It can be days, weeks, or even months before you feel the pain from a car accident. Healing from injuries, regardless of the cause is a process. You should be prepared to work hard and follow doctors’ orders. There will be set backs, but our doctors will be with you every step of the way. We will tailor your treatment plan to meet your needs and goals and give you homework to speed your recovery process.

HOW THE PROCESS WORKS:

For most people, filing a claim is as simple as calling your insurance agent. Let your insurance agent know you have been in an accident and that you’re hurt and intend to seek medical treatment. Your agent should then open a claim on your behalf. Your insurance company should act as an advocate on your behalf. They will typically pay for your claims directly and then pursue the at fault party for reimbursement. However, it is typically in the insurance company’s best interest to close claims quickly.
Before choosing to take a settlement, it may be in your best interest to seek the opinion of a medical provider so that you can be assessed for injuries that may come to light later. A $250 settlement is much less attractive if you end up needing a $45,000 disc surgery. Similarly, if your insurance company attempts to close your claim prior to you finishing treatment, you have the right to seek representation and have your lawyer demand continued treatment on your behalf.

STEPS TO TREATMENT AND RECOVERY:

Seek treatment immediately. Even if you don’t think you are injured, you should still seek the opinion of a medical professional.

Do not accept a settlement prior to being released from the care of your doctor.

If the Medical professional determines that you are injured and need treatment, follow their treatment plan. Failure to follow the doctor’s recommendations can make it appear that your injuries are not serious, regardless of their nature.

A FEW THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT WHIPLASH INJURY:

Whiplash is a relatively common injury that occurs to a person’s neck following a sudden acceleration-deceleration force that causes unrestrained, rapid forward and backward movement of the head and neck that can occur during a sporting event, slips and falls or automobile crashes. In fact whiplash is the most common reported neck injury after a car accident.
Fortunately, whiplash is not a life threatening injury, but it can lead to prolonged periods of partial disability. The deceptive thing about this injury is that even at low speeds, the symptoms often do not manifest themselves until hours or even days after the crash. This is why we urge anyone who has recently been in a car crash, or any other accident, even if at low speeds, to come in for a consultation and examination as soon as possible.
Though it is one of the most common; Whiplash Injury is by no means the only injury you can get from a car accident! Other symptoms commonly seen after a car accident include (but certainly aren’t limited to) Low Back Pain, Leg and/or Ankle Pain, Wrist and Hand Pain, and Shoulder and Mid Back pain
